I have a Jack Russell Terrier, just over a year old. I live in an apartment complex where a lot of people own dogs.

When I am walking my dog and he spots another dog, he wildly tries to pull me in that direction. If the dog is close, my dog lets out loud shrill screams and continues to try to pull me. It is almost impossible to control and its embarassing.

Other than that he is very well behaved for a JRT and he is real smart. Just a little wild in certain situations, this being the worst.

So what can I do to control this behavior?
he’s not aggressive in a mean way. He just is curious I think and wants to play. But he plays rough with other dogs like wrestling around and nipping (no intent to hurt). If I let him check out the other dog, They sniff, then start wrestling and the leashes get tangled up.

I took a ride on my bike yesterday and i was wearing this oversized pink raincoat cuz it was really pourin. From out of nowhere, these two huge dogs started chasin me for a whole block. I’ve been chased by other dogs before but they always go after me for only a short distance. These two dogs however, chased me for a whole block, bit on my raincoat and scared the hell out of me. They only turned back around when I sought shelter in somebody else’s garage. What must i do when a situation like this happens again?

I have never felt that giving pets as a throw away holiday gift was a very good idea, especially to very young children. They don’t really know how to care for or properly handle a kitten or small puppy. Then after the novelty wears off, the poor animal is often mistreated or neglected, then thrown outside when the coldest part of the winter is settling in to starve or freeze to death. PLEASE - don’t give pets as gifts, especially without consulting parents or guardians!

I got attacked by a corgi before and certain breeds make me nervous, but the breeds that I like are : Maltese, poodles, schnauzers, pugs and miniature mutts.

Also, due to a mild allergy, dogs with coarse hair like labs tend to make my skin itch. Yet, poodles and cavalier king Charles spaniels and those breeds mentioned above didn’t make me itch.

A dog would give me an excuse to walk around and not look weird, especially when I go too close to people w/dogs.

I know caffeen is bad for dogs, but my dog loves the smell of coffee. She goes nuts when I come home with a cup of Dunkin!! I was wondering if it would be a problem if I baked her some plain dog cookies using a cup or so of decaffinated coffee in place of water? I guess the overall amount would be on cup of decaffinated coffee split up amongst 40 - 50 cookies. Thanks!
