What do you do with your pets when going on vacation?

pets
VW asked:

We rarely go on vacation but this year we are planning a trip to Europe for a month. Have a dog and two cats. We are new to this town and don’t really know anyone. What would be the best thing to do with our pets? If you know the name of a website etc. please include that as well. Thank you very much for any help.

How can I get my dog to be less aggressive with other dogs?

dogs
kate92979 asked:

I’ve had my dog for about 2 months now. I rescued him from a shelter, he came from an abusive background but he’s a great dog. He’s very aggressive with other dogs though. He growls when he’s near them and I’ve learned that it’s because he wants to get to know them but he doesn’t introduce himself properly. A month ago, he was attacked by another dog and it was horrible. I thought he was going to get killed. Thankfully, that didn’t happen but now I’m so afraid when I take him for walks or to the park. I feel like something like that will happen again and I won’t be able to get him out of the situation. The minute I see another dog, I take my dog and we leave. I can’t even enjoy my time out with him because I’m constantly looking for other dogs. What should I do?

Will I get caught with pets in my apartment?

pets
bzone asked:

The apartment I am looking into allows pets, but they charge outrageous deposits and extra rent per month. I have two cats. I am wondering if when I sign the lease I say I don’t have pets to avoid paying the deposit and extra rent. It’s an apartment complex run by a corporation so the only people coming into my apartment will be maintenance and how are they supposed to know I said I don’t have pets on my lease? Will this work? Anyone get away with it before?

How does a dogs social structure work as a pet within a standard human family?

dogs
forgetyourrestraints_x asked:

I was lead to believe that most dogs view the humans their most commonly around in much the same way as they’d view other dogs they’d be around in the wild, kind of like a pack. What position within that pack does the family dog give view itself? Does it consider itself to be a member of the pack (family), or does the dog view the family as being members of the dogs pack, and thus the dog views itself as the leader?

Are there malpractice laws involving canines in Ohio? How can petowners protect themselves?

canines
Glasswalker Alpha asked:

I have a question. I know that Parvo swept over Ohio this last fall and this winter. I want to know if there are veterinary rules for a veterinarian to inform the dog owner if the dog has a serious illness?

I ask this question because this winter my family went on vacation and we had our dogs stay at a reputable kennel in the area after which the dogs became ill. The Veterinarian brushed off the illness until it became too bad to ignore (two visits later and Vomiting, lethargy, lack of eating, and diarrhea). Both dogs died after they were admitted into emergency care and the vet witheld information on what really happened. They sent the bodies of our dogs to the center of disease control and then gave us a false number at which to call for follow-up. The dogs died from symptoms similar to parvo.

Are there malpractice laws involving canines? How can owners protect themselves?
We did research the vet and kennel… and it seemed fine. I know for future reference I will never go to them again…
