Small Dog Breeders, I need your help! I love animals and want to know how to start breeding small dogs?

dogs
Hannah H asked:

I am looking for something that I can do that I will love and enjoy. I love animals most of all dogs and theres nothing like having babies to take care of. My mother in law breeds exotic bird and I know that she loves it, I just need some great web sites to look at and some starter tips. What do I need? How much do shots and registered papers cost? Where do you buy breeding dogs? How many pups can a small breed of a dog have in one litter?

How to teach big dogs to be considerate of small dogs size?

dogs
Wondering Women asked:

I have a great dane and am getting a small dog (12 pounds). He is very considerate of other dogs when socializing. But- just in case I would like to ask anyone who has a big dog and small dog how they got there big dog to be considerate (not step on, not bite, and to be easy playing) of the small dog. I would like to know about how people taught their big dogs that. Also I would like to ask how to introduce a big dog to a small dog. We are getting our small dog second, since we already have a big dog. Does that make a difference? Thank you.

How come people say milk is bad for dogs?

dogs
L.A.M.B asked:

2 stories: My husband had a dog when we were dating about 9years ago. He found the dog laying on the ground taking his last breath almost dying and growing up people told us when a dog is sick give them milk. My husband gets the gallon of milk ,opens the dogs mouth and makes the dog drink it. After 5 minutes the dog gets up, almost falling but gets up and starts walking. That dog died of old age.
Another story: My small female chihuahua was coughing and vomiting and I gave her milk, within a few minutes, I no longer heard the cough and she stopped vomiting. Do my dogs just have strong digestive systems or what? Or does Milk really help sick dogs?Just wondering if anyone else has used this on there sick dog?

When is the best time to introduce dogs with a new puppy?

dogs
drdocaj asked:

I have a new puppy (yorkie) and also have two larger, outdoor dogs. I have already let the puppy in contact with the more timid dog, he’s actually afraid of her. The interaction was quick. My problem may be with my older dog. He isn’t aggressive, he just wants to sniff her and play. But she’s 4 lbs. and he’s about 70lbs. I am planning on training classes with the puppy, the other two are already good, but if a little, yappy dog is bothering them… well, they are dogs. Should I wait until the puppy has more training and will listen better? The bigger dogs are in a dog run, so they do see her when I take her out to potty and they have met through the wire fence. I take my bigger dogs to the dog park and they are fine, they always have the little ones running after them, but this one lives at thier home now. I’m only concerned because she will always be a tiny dog and I know it only takes one wrong move… Should I just wait until I have better control of her?
All wonderful advice, thank you. But I think I’m more concerned that the puppy will attack the bigger one, and he will not put up with it. She already acts dominant and I know she is going to learn that she isn’t. I just don’t want her hurt or him hating her forever. When we got our middle dog last year, ther were no problems at all. But he was a bigger puppy and he didn’t dare try to dominate the other one. I have tried bringing the older one inside to meet her, but she just barked and tried to bite him and of course, he tried to return the favor. I guess I just have to toughen up… ;-)

How can I fix my dogs unusual behavior?

dogs
Daniel K asked:

My dog is a minituare Schnauzer, but he’s really big for a minituare. Well my dogs problem is that he always barks and growls at other dogs, even ones that are twice his size. He can’t confront other dogs because there either scared of him, or they get pissed off at my dog. There are only a few dogs my dog confront calmly. I think my dog only growls because he’s excited, because once he meets the dog he’s very gentle and just sniffs around. How do I fix my dogs problem, I know one way to fix it is to get another dog for him to play with. But my family does not want another dog.
It’s hard to introduce him to dogs because people just walk away at my barking dog lol.

How do I stop my dog attacking other dogs?

dogs
hunni.bear asked:

Whenever I go for a walk with my dog, a Jack russell cross, he tries to attack other dogs. I got him from a cats and dogs home a couple of months ago. I like to let him off for a run around because he has a lot of energy. Most of the time there’s another dog in the field and he runs off to it. He won’t come if I call him if there’s another dog and he tries to attack it. A couple of dogs he seems fine with, he sniffs them, then he suddenly tries to attack him. I want to let him off for a run around but theres nowhere else I can do that apart from the field. I want to do something before he gets hurt.

How do I keep my dog from fighting with other dogs when she first meets them?

dogs
JennyJo asked:

When she first meets a dog she automatically tries to establish dominance. If the other dog is submissive, things are fine, but at times she just doesn’t get along with others–especially if it’s an adult dog. Is there a way that I can be the dominant one and keep her from doing this with other dogs or do I just need to let the dogs work it out.

Fighting dogs is a hot issue. Is it equally cruel to hunt animals for sport?

dogs
Bandit asked:

Dog fighting is becoming more of a hot button issue. Dogs are virtually innocent creatures that should serve as a companion. Oftentimes they are used as an assistant in the recreational killing of other animals. Fighting dogs and roosters is no longer an acceptable form of entertainment. Why do people accept the killing of game for purposes other than food and warmth? How can a group of armed men chasing animals be considered a sport?

Is it possible for a dog to be allergic to another dogs coat?

dogs
cherrysjubilee805@sbcglobal.net asked:

I take my german shepherd every once in a while to play with an american bulldog. The american bulldog’s owner told me that her dog stayed itching himself all night long after it played with my dog. My dog is free from fleas ticks. The other dog is also free from fleas ticks. Someone mentioned dogs can be allergic to other dogs coats. Is this possible?

What kind of dogs would make a good indoor pet; with children and cats?

dogs
bengali asked:

We have young children, and quite a few cats (We’re a bengal cat breeder). We want a dog that can thrive with the chaos that can often be associated with life with a family. The dog would be fixed. We don’t particularly have a ton of spare time, so we don’t want a long haired dog, besides the fact I’m somewhat allergic. We don’t mind a small dog, but we DON’T want a yipper. Both my husband and I will be working, but it won’t ever be alone, it’ll always have the cats here, and two of them absolutely adore dogs, if anything, they’ll sleep with it and follow it around, play with it. Large, or small, it doesn’t really matter; but it needs to be somewhat easily trained, especially if a larger dog; we don’t have problem putting the time into it that it need to train, but it’s going to grow up with young kids, and we need it to pick up new commands with some work. It’ll be taken for walks, up to 45 mins a day, but would most likely not have a yard to run in. What dog would suit our needs?
I’ll repeat, we don’t want a yipper. Or a long haired dog. Otherwise, we’ll all for any ideas.
